Travel

How to reach the regions of Nareth: Kalden the Ferryman, the Ash Wanderer and world map waypoints, prices and locked locations.

There are three quick ways to travel between the regions of Nareth: Kalden, the Ferryman, the Ash Wanderer and the world map waypoints. All three follow the same rule: where you can go depends on your level and how far you have come in the Chronicle.

Kalden, the Ferryman

Kalden, the Ferryman stands at the starting point of every region and in the cities. He offers two services:

  • Travel – opens the world map in "choose a place, the Ferryman takes you there" mode. Pick a destination and press Travel. If you don't have enough gold or the place is still locked, the button is greyed out and the card tells you why.
  • Dungeon / boss chamber – enter the dungeons from here and choose the difficulty (Normal, Heroic, Legendary). Details: Dungeons.

The Ash Wanderer

The Ash Wanderer is a travelling NPC who stands next to the Ferryman in the cities and at the starting point of every region. He takes you to the same places, under the same rule and for the same price as the Ferryman. He does not offer the region you are currently in.

Waypoints on the world map

The world map (M key, or the map button on the minimap) lists the waypoints on its left side, sorted into tabs (All, Cities, Hunting grounds, Dungeons) and searchable. Clicking a place opens a card with its name, type, recommended level, travel cost and the Chronicle chapter it belongs to.

Discovering waypoints

A waypoint becomes yours the first time you set foot there – a system message announces the New waypoint. You can travel back to a discovered place later even if you haven't reached that point in the Chronicle yet.

How travel works

  1. Pick a destination and start travelling.
  2. A short 3-second preparation follows, then the game takes you there.
  3. If you move or take damage in the meantime, the journey is interrupted. You can also cancel it with Esc.

Waypoints cannot be used while you are dead, in combat, with a trade, shop or storage window open, or from inside a dungeon.

Cost

The price depends on the destination's recommended level: level × 5 silver, but at least 10 silver.

Destination's recommended levelCost
1 (cities, starting valleys)10 silver
201 gold
1005 gold
20010 gold

Locked locations

On the world map a locked place is grey, the list shows a padlock, and the card tells you which Chronicle chapter unlocks it. A place is available when both conditions are met:

  1. Level: its recommended level is at most 10 above yours.
  2. Chronicle: its chapter is at most one ahead of where you are in the Chronicle – or you have already been there.

Cities and starting valleys are always available.
